Anna Meenderink (Naaldwijk, 1996) started playing the violin at the age of five with PIVO at the
Royal Conservatory in The Hague and was admitted to the Young Talent Department with Koosje
van Haeringen at the same conservatory at the age of ten. At the age of fifteen she switched to
viola and studied with Liesbeth Steffens. She has regularly taken lessons and masterclasses
with Wolfram Christ, Nobuko Imai, Isabelle van Keulen and Garth Knox. In 2021 she obtained her
bachelor’s degree with an “excellent” with Iván Martín Mateu at the Conservatorio Superior de
Salamanca. She is currently studying for a master’s degree in classical viola at the Conservatory
of Amsterdam with Marjolein Dispa and Frederik Boits.
Anna is a versatile musician with a great love for chamber music. She has collaborated with
Peter Brunt, Frederique Saeijs, Lucia Swarts and Mikhail Milman, among others. In 2015 she
played Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with Isobel Warmelink with the Atheneum Chamber
Orchestra conducted by Arjan Tien. Anna also has extensive orchestral experience and has
collaborated with leading conductors such as Herbert Blomstedt, Kurt Masur, Jonathan Nott,
Michael Sanderling and James Gaffigan. In 2017 she was leader of the National Youth Orchestra
and from 2018 to 2020 she was a member of the Gustav Mahler JugendOrchester. In 2019 she
won the academy in the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester and in 2022 she won a temporary contract in
the Orquesta Filarmónica de Malaga. Currently she performs regularly with dutch professional
orchestra’s such as het Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest andhet Radio Philharmonisch
Orkest.
Anna plays a viola by Hargrave (Meyenburg, 1993) and a bow by Stüber (The Hague, 20th
century), made available by het Nationaal Muziekinstrumentenfonds.
